A rundown New Year resolution advertising on radio and television in Canada

The New Year is a time for resolutions and goals. This week we will take a look at who is pushing for the top spot in the Gym, Financial and Travel categories across radio and television.

Gym advertising on Radio

Planet Fitness dominates the Gym category on radio with a 47% total share, with their Big Fitness Energy campaign offering a monthly membership for $15 per month and $1 down. Fit 4 Less Gyms takes second place with a 19% share, offering a membership for $7.99 bi-weekly. Orangetheory Fitness lands in third place with 9% share , offering personal training sessions for $12 per session.

Scotiabank takes first place with a 17% overall category share, featuring the Scotia Advice+ campaign to help Canadians worry less about money. In second place, Alpine Credits takes 13% share offering loans to homeowners. Consolidated Credit Counseling Services takes 7% share, offering free consultations to help manage debt. 

 

Travel Agency advertising on Radio

Selloffvacations.com took first place with 29% share, featuring their  Super Selloff Sale. Sunwing Vacation scored second place with 23% share, offering hot savings on vacations to the Dominican Republic. In third place, WestJet Vacations had 19% share, offering getaways in 50 different sun destinations.

 

Gym advertising on Television

TV proves to be a less competitive space for the Gym category with only 2 advertisers in January. 

Planet Fitness’ Big Fitness Energy campaign takes top TV share (60%) in January, offering a monthly membership for $15 per month and $1 down. In second place, Club 16 featuring their pre-sale and new facility in Chilliwack.




Financial advertising on Television

CIBC Bank took first place with 18% share featuring the CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card and CIBC Advisory Banking Services. TD Canada Trust landed in second place with 16% share, highlighting the TD Canada Trust First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card  and the TD Canada Trust Mobile Application. RBC Financial Group followed closely in third place with 16% share; they featured their investing services and RBC Nomi service.




Travel Agency advertising on Television

Trivago.ca managed to score first place with an impressive 31% category share; offering travel site comparison service. Expedia Group followed with 22% share, inviting people to sign up and receive member pricing. In third place, Exoticca Travel Agency had 15% share with an invitation to book an extraordinary trip.
